#8 Feb 24 - Version T17 - Station maintenance

Hello everyone,
Better straps your seat belts as today I have some quite nice changes to present to you.

But first let me apologies as it seems that last week windows version had a bug which prevented anyone from testing it, I made the decision to not loose time fixing it and thought it would be better to just wait for this week version to come out, as I know it would be fixed by then, so truly sorry for that.

In this 17th test version, lot of changes have been made regarding the customization of your own station.

I think I’m starting to really settle on a art style/ art pipeline and as a result I managed to add color customization to furniture (This only apply for the most recent items, the old ones will need to be remade) but this allows you, for now, to change the solid color of any piece of furniture and with the addition of furniture I also added a minigame to it, like the one for mining. This wasn’t easy, as people might be recoloring a lot of furniture so I didn’t want this to be too much of a chore but I think I reached a good middle ground where it makes it fun, also it needed to be a minigame that you couldn’t fail. So I decided, to make it a “fill the form’’ game. When recoloring, you’ll be given a shape that you need to paint over, which I thing fits very well. This was a fun little challenge for me as I never done anything like this before but I feel I’ve come up with quite a clever way to do it.

Some changes were also made so you can now put furniture on top of surfaces (may not work on all surfaces for now) but basically, you can for instance put chairs on tables, if you decide to design a closed restaurant or maybe a plant on top of your vending machine. This will add a lot in the long term as you’ll be able to create better sceneries. There is one bug I need to fix with this though, it’s that right now, you’re able to remove the item under resulting in the top item staying in the air, but that’s for another time.

The ability to put things on wall was also started, but there’s still issues to fix (Currently only 1 item can be hanged on the wall) There’s some issue as you can select walls that appear invisible, so I’ll have to investigate a solution to this issue, but the basic is there.

Also more changes regarding art and lighting have been made and I think I’m starting to really head in the right directions, shadows are mostly back in the station, and the lighting looks a lot more accurate which I feel makes it look a lot better.

Some other changes were made such as new furniture and quality of life changes, I sadly didn’t add comet harvesting as I’m still trying to design the proper way to do it.

Next week :

This week as been mostly about customization, I really got in the zone and I think I managed to do some very good progress on that part of the game. This week I plan on focusing more on gameplay, this includes the comet harvesting, I also want to start thinking about the fuel mechanic, which will limit how many celestials you can visit per day/week and how you can replenish it.

I also need to remodel some of ther older furniture such as the workbench, chest and main computer.

Final Note :

With these new changes I feel the game as really evolved and is starting to shape up nicely. Once again thanks to all you readers for sticking with me, your support means a lot.
